EMSAfrica partners and collaborators get together for virtual annual meeting 2020

Our EMSAfrica network of partners and collaborators met virtually on the 8th December. With the third and final project year starting, it was a good time to look back and discuss our progress, challenges faced during 2020, and plan future collaborations. The meeting was well attended with 34 participants.

Since our last meeting in February 2020, all of new southern African PhD students funded under the DAAD CaBuDe programme have settled in well, and made good progress on their doctoral projects already. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused cancelled fieldwork and postponement of researcher exchange visits and training courses, while our South African partners have taken over even more of the overall workload.

The meeting highlighted some great research outcomes and results, as well as opportunities for further collaborative work. We look forward to the final year of collaborations!
